My Very Public Diary Issue #12
Long weekend energy loading...
Good morning/night/afternoon/middle of the night (lookin’ at my new mamas fighting their children to go the f to sleep)! Memorial Day Weekend is HERE and I don’t give a shit about when the official day of ‘summer’ is because it’s here, we’re in summer and we’re having the kind of fun you can only have when it’s summer. And yes I am using “we” because if you’re reading this then I’m bringing you with me to have a fun fucking summer ok????
Speaking of summer, let’s talk about the vibe we’re chasing for this 2024 season. From a general standpoint I’m channeling healthy, energized, spontaneous, silly, and very very happy.
From a style perspective, I want to be wearing
Leopard skirts or pants with graphic tshirts - this is all over my pinterest and i love it
tshirts, denim shorts, and sneakers
longer, looser shorts + high heels
boxer shorts, duh
^ for all the above i do envision it almost exclusively with graphic tshirts so time to clear out an urban outfitters i guess
a red tube top — i’ve been thinking about a red tube top for like 3 weeks and it just sounds cute as hell!
Brown - if you follow me on instagram you know that i am embracing the color brown after neglecting it strongly for many years (we blame my mom for this)
From a food perspective, I want to be eating
Corn!!! ‘Tis the season.
A lot of strong herby dips. Going to go through a lot of greek yogurt, lemon, cilantro, and parsley this summer.
Smoothies with a ton of hidden veggies and bonus nutrients so i can be healthy, wealthy, stealthy (?)
Quinoa salads — I just made one of these for the first time in a long time last week and like why the fuck did I wait so long? Shit SLAPPED!!
For reference my quinoa salad cocktail was quinoa + chickpeas + olives + tomatoes + red onion + green onion + parsley + dill + a healthy dose of lemon
From a music perspective, I want to be listening to
Maggie Rogers. She is my fucking vibe right now and it absolutely has everything to do that I’m going to her show in 2 weeks.
In relation to having fun and feeling good I wanted to build on something I was talking about next week related to getting yourself out of a bad mood. In the same vein of that, do you have certain things that you like DREAD doing or have to muster up all of the motivation you’ve ever had but then you do them and you just feel SO GOOD?! I have many, but that might be due to some level of my extreme procrastination on the smallest stupidest things. Things that I hate doing but that make me feel so good/happy/relieved/etc:
Cleaning the kitchen sink. HATE HATE HATE doing this but feel immediately 100x better when it doesn’t feel like I’m putting my dishes in a garbage bath pre dishwasher.
Lifting on a Monday morning. It’s veryyyyy easy for me to just pop upstairs and peloton on a Monday morning to maximize my time in bed but every time I go to the gym and lift heavy shit I feel really really good.
Putting on sunscreen. I literally don’t have reasoning on why I skip this but I get anxiety when I don’t do it so yeah I just feel better when I slather it on my face.
Doing Duolingo. This makes me feel productive, smart, and ~french~, but sometimes turning on my tv sounds like a better idea and i am usually wrong about that so here’s your reminder to do your Duolingo!!
Shaving my legs. I’m a lazy MF sometimes and shaving my legs is a pain in the ass but I always feel like a smooth, beautiful seal and really enjoy putting on pants sans shave.
